Take a deposit. Keep all of it.

A no-show costs you twice: the appointment, and the hour nobody else could book. A deposit takes part of it up front, straight into your own Stripe account.

Deposits are on Pro, from $29 a month.

The payment step on a Keptslot booking page: “CA$70 deposit now, CA$70 on the day”, a card form, and a Pay CA$70 button

Set on each service, not on the business

A two-hour colour can need something up front to hold it while a fifteen-minute trim needs nothing at all.

The Keptslot service settings: “What the customer pays at the moment they book. Anything not collected here is settled with you in person.” Collect at booking is “A deposit — share of the price”, the deposit is 50 percent, and the line below reads “Customers pay CA$70.00 when they book, and CA$70.00 in person”
What you set.
The same salon's booking page on a phone: a colour asking CA$70 deposit due at booking, a fringe trim asking nothing, and a cut asking CA$50 due at booking
What your customer sees.
Nothing
they pay you the way they always have
A fixed deposit
a set amount to hold the appointment
A share of the price
change the price and the deposit follows it
The whole price
nothing to settle on the day

On a deposit, your customer sees both halves before they pay: CA$70 now, CA$70 on the day.

The rest is settled with you in person, the way it always was. Keptslot does not take it, and does not record whether it was paid.

The money is yours on the way in

Not held by us and released later. Charged on your account, in the first place.

Charged on your account, not ours
The payment is made directly on your own Stripe account. It never passes through Keptslot.
We take no percentage
Whatever the deposit is, that is what lands in your account.
Stripe's standard rate, and nothing else
2.9% + 30¢ on Canadian cards, paid to Stripe out of the payment.

Refunds

You write the policy, in your own words, and your customer reads it before they pay.

If you cancel
Refunded in full, automatically, with nothing for you to do.
If your customer cancels
Nothing is refunded on its own. That is what your policy is for.

Stripe does not return the processing fee on a refund. That is true wherever you take cards.
